Open Online Experience

Technology integration experience for educators

Co-Creators

The Open Online Experience was shaped by the people who designed, wrote, and facilitated it. This page collects profiles of the co-creators who helped build the program for K-16 educators.

About the program

Who co-created OOE13

A connectivist program like OOE13 grows from many contributors working in parallel and in conversation.

The year-long K-16 professional development program known as OOE13 was built collaboratively. Its co-creators contributed the curriculum, the mentoring, and the daily facilitation that kept a distributed network of teachers learning together.

Because the program was designed on a connectivist model, the co-creators' own links, references, and professional connections became part of the resource base that participants drew on throughout the cycle from June 2013 to June 2014.

  • Program design and topic sequencing for each monthly learning topic.
  • Mentoring and facilitation across the participant network.
  • Connections to wider professional communities and related programs.

Connections forged during the program

Participants followed the work of the co-creators through their own blogs, social channels, and shared bookmarks, and many of those professional connections carried on after the program closed in June 2014. The map of participants and the collected blog posts remain the most direct record of that network.

Related programs that grew alongside the same connectivist approach include DNLE at Stanford and ETMOOC.

  • Blog Collections — participant posts and reflections across the 2013–2014 cycle.
  • Connecting — the platforms the community used, including Twitter with #ooe13, Diigo groups, and Google+ communities.
  • Web Tool Box — the tools mentors recommended to the group.

On to new beginnings

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Open Online Experience. The program ran from June 2013 to June 2014, and the hope is that participants carried the connections onward into their own classrooms and communities.
