Student Directed Learning: Digital Storytelling – Multimedia, Remixes & Mashups.

The Open Online Experience program explores how educators can integrate digital tools into everyday teaching and learning, and its learning topics page gathers those monthly themes into a single navigable archive. Rather than focusing on one product or platform, the program centers on ideas like connection, participation, and openness, encouraging teachers to consider how online resources and networks can shape classroom practice for students of varied ages and backgrounds.

Each monthly topic functions as a community conversation rather than a lecture series, with educators sharing examples, screenshots, and reflections that build on one another over time. Themes such as connectivism, digital citizenship, digital literacy, content curation, and student-directed learning give participants a vocabulary for talking about technology integration in honest, practical terms. Synchronous sessions are paired with asynchronous discussion so that people in different time zones and schedules can still contribute meaningfully.

Participants are also encouraged to curate and remix what they find, treating shared resources and open educational materials as starting points for their own classroom experiments. The program experience rests on a connective principle: learning grows through networked relationships, ongoing conversation, and a willingness to share unfinished ideas with a wider community of educators exploring similar questions about teaching, learning, and technology.
